According to Jon Queen DC, a new windfall of heat and electricity could befall Ukrainians due to an unexpected source of chickens. Unusual news revealed that Alter Energy Group AG, a Swiss company is assessing the poultry farm sites of Ukraine in order to implement a sophisticated process of waste to energy. In this process the poultry and chicken manure is taken and converted into environmental safe, clean and industrial scale heat and energy.
When former Soviet Union is considered, this is a new kind of project and once it’s completed the AG Company would collaborate with worldwide companies and extend this beneficial project outside Ukraine as well.
The company follows a technical approach of taking manure from chickens in large farms of Ukraine. Then this manure is burnt to produce significant amounts of electricity and heat. This electricity and heat is transmitted to the wholesale energy market of Ukraine and the population surrounding that. This might sound like a very simple process but in reality it involves complex steps and this is because the content of ammonia is quite high in poultry manure.
The content of ammonia in the manure is extremely high and this affects the power production immensely. This is because it constantly gives out pollutants that are toxic which apart from spoiling the project equipment is also released into the air unless a rigorous step is taken to control it. In addition to this the ash resulting from burning of the manure is also problematic. This is why in the entire world just 7 poultry waste energy projects have been commercialized and implemented till today.
With a track record that is Poultry specific, Alter Energy Group claims that it has very cautiously addressed to these chicken related problem in waste to energy methodology. Apart from electricity and heat their company also looks forward to manufacture huge quantities of bio fertilizers and animal feeds that are nutrient rich.
Ukraine is known for its large amount of poultry farms. At present there is no immediate purpose for the amount of livestock waste in the country, therefore, it’s a great opportunity to produce a profitable and substantial niche market in the nation in the sector of renewable energy.
